M2M United wraps up, M2M technology is just taking off



With outstanding turnout, great speakers, insightful sessions, and the prestigious Value Chain Awards, the first-ever M2M United Conference was a tremendous success. Thanks to all of you for making it possible.

Gartner analyst Dan Miklovic talks about business issues behind M2M



Dan Miklovic is vice president and research director for Gartner. He leads global manufacturing industry research as well as business models and management strategies in e-business. Today Miklovic moderated one of the three session tracks at M2M United, and addressed the business issues behind M2M and how the technology provides solutions to companies' problems.

Peggy Smedley, president of Specialty Publishing and editorial director of M2M Magazine, interviewed Miklovic about today's sessions and the role M2M plays within a business.

Harbor Research analyst Glen Allmendinger presents findings from new report



Glen Allmendinger is the president of Harbor Research, a leading technology consultancy and analyst group. Yesterday Allmendinger presented findings from an M2M study that will be publishing the Harvard Business Review in October. Today he moderated one of M2M United's three session tracks.

Allmendinger sat down for an interview with Peggy Smedley, the editorial director of M2M Magazine and host of the M2M United conference, to discuss the strengths of the conference and where M2M is headed in the future.

IBM Master Inventor Andy Stanford-Clark discusses on-demand business



Andy Stanford-Clark is manager of pervasive messaging technologies for IBM at its Hursley Research Lab near London as well as "Master Inventor" for the IBM Academy of Technology. In today's keynote speech, Andy discussed how M2M communications enables and empowers on-demand business operations.

M2M Magazine's editorial director Peggy Smedley caught up with Andy after his speech to ask him a few questions about IBM's work in the M2M industry and about his thoughts on the future of M2M.

Analyst Jim Brazell presents research findings from IC2 Institute



Jim Brazell, consulting analyst with the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, presented findings today from a recently published study called "M2M: The Wireless Revolution." A major finding of the report is the birth of a new generation of computing classified as 4th Generation Computing, new class of M2M device that consists of a system on a chip packaged with a battery (or other power source), a radio and a microprocessor.

M2M United Conference...Ready, set, go!



The M2M United conference, highlighting the latest technologies and applications for machine-to-machine communications, will opens tonight, June 27, in Chicago. The conference is sponsored by M2M Magazine and features some of the leading solution providers who will exhibit throughout the two-day event.

The leading analysts in the industry will be here, including Gartner, Aberdeen and Wireless Data Research. Each of these analysts will moderate a track of sessions targeted for executives and people in operations and technology.
